Opportunities for All creates access for diverse young people
to employment around San Francisco. The program includes paid
internships, mentorship, career training, and apprenticeship
for participants ages 13 to 24. This was Dev/Mission’s first
year partnering up with Opportunities for All to provide paid
internships to young people from different high schools around
San Francisco. Dev/Mission is extremely thankful to have these
amazing interns this summer.
Dev/Mission provided a various amount of internships this summer
like outreach, data entry, admin assistant, photographer, blogger,
and marketing. Everyone was consistently busy and learning everyday
with their supervisors. We faced a countless amount of challenges
and learned many career skills, communication skills, and problem
solving skills.
Once again, Dev/Mission was pleased to have interns this summer and
we can’t wait to see what happens next year. The interns did great
this summer!
An OFA Participant states, “I would like to thank Opportunities
for All and Dev/Mission for my internship this summer. I was a
Blogger at Dev/Mission and I also did data entry. I have learned
so much this summer and I can’t thank them enough! It’s been so
much fun.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 17th 2019
Our 2019 Summer Cohort was invited for a corporate site visit to ABC Channel 7 News in San Francisco, CA on Friday, July 12th 2019. ABC targets young adults ages 19 to 24 and tries to reach the audience that watches videos on their phones. Lilian Peña welcomed our Cohort with a big smile and showed us around the studio.
During the corporate site visit, we were lucky to have a Q&A session where the students asked what task the employees do and what their day is like to ABC employees. After, our Cohort met two extraordinary people. We met Malinalli and Eric. When Malinall was in college, all her professors told her it would be impossible for her to land a career in film, but she never gave up. She launched her own business in 2015 and ended up majoring and getting a master’s in film. Then, Erik mentioned he was an IT manager. Before he was an IT manager, he was doing sales. He never thought he would end up where he is today. Erik is responsible for anything that has electronic that runs through it. Eric also asked our Cohort what kind of career they want to pursue in the tech industry.
ABC 7 showed our Cohort their control center, satellites, and an automated camera. We were amazed about how all the technology works and the students learned how to use the new technology. Our students learned plenty from this lively experience. We would like to thank ABC Channel 7 News for believing in how we are creating the next generation of tech talent.

Dev/Mission announces New Lease Agreement with Mission Housing One of the premier Resident Services collaborations in San Francisco is taking another step forward. On June 3, 2019, two years after agreeing to partner and incubate at one of Mission Housing Development Corporation’s marquee buildings, Dev/Mission has signed a new lease agreement with the nonprofit developer making Valencia Gardens, located at 360 Valencia St., the official headquarters of the tech nonprofit.
“When we incubated dev/Mission two years ago, we could only dream that Leo and his team would reward our faith the way that they have,” said Sam Moss, Executive Director at Mission Housing. “We’re beyond proud of dev/Mission’s success. They’re further proof that Mission Housing’s commercial tenants thrive when they’re truly community partners, and we’ll continue to support these invaluable
assets to our communities because that is the Mission Housing way.”
Mission Housing and dev/Mission are pleased to extend an invitation to the public on June 3, 2019, for the official ribbon cutting ceremony at the official headquarters of dev/Mission — 360 Valencia St. In the heart of the Mission District. “Dev/Mission is very thankful to our partner Mission Housing Development Corporation for working together with our leadership team to develop this amazing lease that will help us enhance and deliver programming in the Mission District for years to come,” said Leo Sosa, Executive Director of Dev/Mission “You know your work matters when you support an amazing organization and partner such as Dev/Mission,” said Marcia Contreras, Deputy Executive Director at Mission Housing. “Mission Housing is thrilled to be able to secure a space for dev/Mission, but most importantly what this space represents to so many young adults. We believed in the vision that Leo Sosa presented to us two years ago. Today, we celebrate a mutual collaboration that has produced opportunities to so many, but most importantly it has empowered our young adults to believe in themselves and become our future.
